With Invicta FC back in the mix next month, a decade-old friendship with Japanese promotion DEEP Jewels will also be renewed.
Two fighters from the all-female Japanese MMA promotion DEEP Jewels will travel across the Pacific to fight at Invicta FC 55 on June 28th in Kansas City, Kansas, USA. DEEP Jewels microweight champion Saori Oshima (14-4) will fight Brazil's Andressa Romero (6-4) at atomweight, while Yoko Higashi (8-4) will fight Taylor Guardado (4-2) at bantamweight.
The fights were revealed on the ticketing website Eventbrite a day before tickets go on sale to the general public.
Saori Oshima is becoming a top fighter in Japanese MMA. The veteran of DEEP, RIZIN, and Black Combat unified the DEEP and DEEP Jewels microweight titles just last Sunday at DEEP Jewels 45 in Tokyo. She achieved a first-round TKO victory over former DEEP microweight champion Aya Murakami and was rewarded with an Invicta FC contract immediately after the fight. She also holds wins over Park Si Woo, Claire Lopez, and Kanna Asakura.
Yoko Higashi is will actually fight in her third consecutive fight in the United States after a run in the PFL last year. While dropping both PFL fights to Marina Mokhnatkina and Olena Kolesnyk, she'd won four straight in Japan prior, including the featherweight championship. She'll be dropping back down to bantamweight for the first time in three fights.
Invicta FC once hosted numerous fighters from Japan, some of which earned championship belts in the promotion. Ayaka Hamasaki, who currently fights in RIZIN, once held the Invicta FC atomweight championship, and Kanako Murata held the strawweight championship before moving to the UFC.
Invicta FC announced their first event in nine months this week, headlined by a bantamweight title fight between champion Talita Bernardo and Olga Rubin at the Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas, on June 28th.
